Meet the Turf Team

Our team of turf representatives bring more than just a few famous names to the table. They have intimate knowledge and firsthand experience of how synthetic turf surfaces interact with the athletes on the field, and how weather and other environmental and play factors affect the turf. They have also taken the time to learn about the industry and the products they are providing. They have observed the manufacturing of yarns, they have watched turf being stitched to the backing, and they have sat in on the testing of our products. They are knowledgeable and passionate about the G9 line of turf products.

Community Causes

Community CausesG9 Turf vows to give back to every community we touch. Every installation is accompanied by a donation to the local chapter of the Families of American Military Foundation and Operation Shelter Our Families. A key piece of the business plan for our company is to give back to the communities we touch. As part of that plan, G9 Turf has entered into a partnership with The Disability Opportunity Fund and the Families of American Military's Operation Shelter Our Families. This is a unique relationship that allows G9 to not only make a contribution and establish roots within these communities, but also recognize the courage and sacrifice being made by our American military.

G9 Makes First Donation to The DOF
September 14, 2010

In September, G9 Turf put the final touches on their field installation at Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, NY. As part of the project, G9 Turf made a $5,000 donation on behalf of Kellenberg to the local Long Island chapter of the Disability Opportunity Fund (DOF), a community development financial institution focused on addressing the gap in housing solutions for people with disabilities and their families, particularly those returning from service in the American military.

G9 Turf's donation to the DOF comes from a firm belief in the post installation relationship, and their strongly held corporate mission of giving back to every community they touch. Every installation is accompanied by a similar donation, which helps the family of a local member of the US military find affordable housing.

"We are very proud of our partnership with G9 Turf and look forward to using this donation to help a local Long Island military family," said Charlie Hammerman, President and CEO of the Disability Opportunity Fund. "These funds will help further our mission of providing low cost financing of affordable and accessible housing for our veterans returning from war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

The G9 team made an official presentation to DOF senior advisor Sandy Tochterman, on behalf of Kellenberg, at a special ceremony on September 9th. Father Philip Eichner, President of Kellenberg, was the master of ceremonies and was joined on the new field by nearly 100 student-athletes to commemorate the opening of the field.

Associated OrganizationsDisability Opportunity Fund

The Disability Opportunity Fund is the only existing national community development investment fund to focus exclusively on Disabilities Projects. They provide a unique and wide range of financial products and services that help customers, like disabled veterans returning from war, build wealth and achieve the goal of becoming fully integrated in society as homeowners and in the workplace. The types of products the DOF provides may be similar to those provided by larger, mainstream financial institutions such as mortgage financing for first time homebuyers. However, they generally lend to and make equity investments in markets not served by traditional financial institutions. The DOF is also usually able to offer rates and terms that are more flexible, and provide services that will help insure that credit is used effectively.

The Disability Opportunity Fund helps rebuild the lives of individuals by increasing the ability of people to act on their own through previously unavailable financial sources.

The Disability Opportunity Fund (TDOF) has formed a nonprofit organization (NPO) alliance with Families of American Military to combine their collective resources and bring together the private sector and government programs. Combining financial resources and integrating military family support with VA benefits programs, their aim is to deliver a home solution for our most deserving; those who have paid the price of freedom in the loss of their able body or mind from their sacrifice for our security. Affordable housing units must be created when these special needs heroes are forced to transition from institutional care into the community.

Families of American Military

The "Shelter Our Families" program will bring the current excess of housing inventory around the nation to bear, which is valued far below previous levels, to meet the demand of this very special and under-served population.

In one representative example, a special operations sniper was hit by enemy fire and wounded while in his fighting position. He was quickly attended by our world-class combat medics and began to be medically evacuated (medevac) when his medevac was hit by an IED. Initially listed in "grave" condition, his wounds so severe, he was not expected to survive. Weeks later, his condition began to improve and ultimately, he survived. His story is one of the most severe cases, but not uncommon among the thousands of survivors who are now severely wounded, disabled and homeless.

Severe cases that involve traumatic injuries, brain dysfunction, amputations, paralysis and severe burns may require solutions in the following 5 major areas most impacted by multiple disabilities:

  • Mobility
  • Transportability
  • Home Care
  • Occupation
  • Housing

Unfortunately, nearly every community in America has felt the pains of recent fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. G9 Turf is proud to be in partnership with The Disability Opportunity Fund and Operation Shelter Our Families, and honored to be able to contribute resources to this worthy cause.
